Hey guys! Remember in episode 4 of Boot Camp when we asked the contestants to vlog about what they would bring with them to a deserted island? Well, I tweeted that one of the things that I would bring would be a Rubik’s Cube. This may sound a little crazy to you, but think about how much worse it would be to be stuck on an island with absolutely nothing to do?! I would want to bring one of these along with me so that I would have something to keep me entertained AND could exercise my brain a little while I’m alone and talking to myself LOL.

Anyway, today I’m sharing a manicure that was inspired by this brilliant little puzzle. This Rubik’s Cube manicure is definitely a little out there, but it might be fun to try over the summer when you don’t need to have a real professional-looking manicure for anything. All you have to do to achieve this effect is paint your nails in each of the colors found on your basic Rubik’s Cube: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and white. Although I love the vibrancy of these colors (especially while neons are so in), you could always tone things down by going with more pastel-y shades of these six colors to make the look not quite as “loud.”
What do you guys think of this manicure? Is this something you would try?
And how many of you love a good Rubick’s Cube as much as I do?! Can you solve it?

Hey guys! A few Mani Mondays ago I showed you all this amazing glitter manicure…did any of you try it out? Well, I now find myself smitten with another glitter manicure idea. This one is more geometric than the last, but every bit as beautiful. Take a look:

Isn’t this so pretty? The larger glitter size is a nice effect…it almost looks like little fish scales or tiny sequins. If you want to try this look out yourself, I suggest using tape to section off the part of your nail(s) that you want to glitz up. Wait until your polish has completely dried before attempting this, otherwise, the tape might peel off some of the paint.
What color/glitter combination you would like to try? Tell me and let me know what you think of this manicure below!

To those of you that are loving your neons right now, get excited for the Thakoon for NARS Spring 2012 Nail Collection. This collection of six ultra-bright colors comes out this week, and is the beauty brand’s first fashion collaboration as far as their nail polish collections go. Judging by these photos, they could not have picked a more fun-looking set of colors to start things off with!

Bright nail colors like these are SO perfect for summer. They’re fun and just make your tan really pop. Since I’m already really into the neon look, this collection is super exciting to me. The only downside I can see without trying them on in person is the price tag – each of the polishes costs $18, so if you wanted to get the whole collection it would end up being a pretty big investment.
What do YOU think of this set? And if you had to pick just one, which one would you choose? Tell me in the comments!

Remember back in February when I blogged about Betsey Johnson’s new nail polish collection for Sephora by O.P.I.? Today I’ve been inspired by even more Betsey nail polish pictures! This time, it’s not a polish collection, but rather a collection of polish designs…
I’ve become rather obsessed with Pinterest (you can follow me here!), and below are a few of the designs that Miss Betsey Johnson herself pinned to her “Betsey Nails” board. I think these manicures really capture the aesthetic of the designer, so I wanted to share! What do you think?
I love the bright, floral pattern on this first one. I need that turquoise polish!

Similar to the first, but in pastels. This is my favorite of the bunch.

Love the glitter! (or are those rhinestones?!)

Which one do you like best? Have you ever attempted intricate floral designs on your own nails? I know I haven't... but nail art is not my greatest skill.

What We Love
Mani Mondays
Happy Monday everyone! Today’s Mani Monday post is a fun little Mani DIY for you to try. As you know, we love our glitter, so when I came across this DIY for glitter nail polish, I just had to share.
To make your own glitter nail polish, you need:
- Nail polish – clear or colored
- Glitter – any size or color that you want is fine; you can even mix them up!
- A piece of paper – to use as a funnel
- A shoebox or other space that you don’t mind getting glittery
Directions:
- Figure out how glitter-dense you want your polish and set aside that amount of glitter in a small tube or vial.
- Fold your paper into a funnel, with the funnel emptying into the nail polish that you will be using.
- Slowly pour the glitter into the funnel so that it goes into your polish. I’d recommend not pouring it all at once so that you don’t accidentally overdo it off the bat. You can always add more after steps 4 and 5.
- Shake up the bottle until it’s all mixed up
- Try your polish out and see what it looks like. Repeat steps 3-5 if you need more glitter.
The final product should rival any glitter polish that you could buy at the store. Let me know how it turns out if you give this a try!
Have you ever tried this before? What color glitter would you use?
P.S. This seems to work for some people and not others. If it's worked for you, what glitter and top coat did you use?
Photo and full tutorial can be found here.

Hi beauties! What color polishes are you liking these days? My favorite nail polish of the moment is currently Essie’s Haute as Hello. It’s a really fun color from their summer collection two years ago and I think it’s just the perfect pinkish coral shade:

Colors like this are perfect for this time of year. Blair’s was wearing it for a while last week and I just thought it was soo pretty on her. It’s a color that would work well on a variety of skin tones as well, so I really recommend it!
With the premiere of our new series on ulookhaute last week, it seems only fitting that my favorite polish of the moment have a similar name!
Do you like coral polishes? Which ones?

What We Love

I’m still really into the manicure look where you paint all of your nails the same color and then the ring finger on both hands a pop of a different color. I really, really like that look and I still do it all the time. I either like to do this manicure within the same color scheme for a subtle contrast or with totally different colors for a stronger accent.
Recently I painted them all light blue with a navy ring fingernail and I thought that was a nice, softer take on the manicure. Some other good color combos for a subtler contrast would be bubblegum pink with a light pink or a red manicure with a red-orange accent. You can even use glitter and still stick within the same color scheme (like in the photo above).
Even more recently, I took the opposite route and painted them super contrasting colors – I did all of my nails in the same grey polish and then the ring fingers in a neon pink. I did my toes in the same neon pink and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten as many compliments on a mani/pedi as I did with that color combo.
What do you think of contrast manicures? What colors do you like to pair together?

Mani Mondays

Hello my lovelies! I hope you all had a nice weekend. You all know how much I love pink nails and French manicures, so you can just guess how fascinated I am by this manicure that’s a combination of both! I wanted to see what you beauties thought of this manicure and if you think it’s something you’d consider trying. Have you ever gotten a wild French manicure? This one is a really pretty and feminine one so if you’ve never tried one before, it might be a good place to start! To get this mani, I would suggest using strips of tape to help form clean lines between your metallic polish and your solid base polish.
What do you think of this manicure? Is this a color combo that you would try?

What We Love
Mani Mondays
Hi beauties! It’s already sandal weather in some places so I thought I’d make this week’s Mani Monday post a special pedicure edition!
I think pedicure color is all about personal preference. Some people like to do all sorts of colors on their toes but others like to keep it simple and stick with pinks or neutrals. I tend to like my colors and this spring I’m really into all the pretty pastel shades. Essie came out with a really nice mint green color last year that I was obsessed with but this year I’m all about the pale purple. “Do You Lilac It?” by OPI is definitely my favorite version. I especially love this color for a pedicure because it’s flattering on a lot of different skin tones. It gives your toes a nice pop of color without being too noticeable...the perfect purple polish for a pedi! Say that 10 times fast LOL.

Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of it on my toes to show you guys right now. But I did find this photo of it as a manicure, and you can just imagine how pretty it looks on feet!
What’s your favorite color for your toes right now? Tell me in the comments!

Happy Monday beauties! Can we all just look at these glitter ombré nails together for a minute? How gorgeous are they?? I am absolutely in love with them and think this is such a cool idea for a manicure. What do you think?
Surprisingly enough, this actually sounds like a fairly easy style to recreate… For this look, the owner of the photo sprinkled basic glitter over each nail individually as the second coat of polish was still wet on that nail. Focus on the base of the nail when you’re sprinkling your glitter to give it the ombré effect. Once they’re completely dry just add a topcoat to seal the deal!
I really like the color combo that they used in this photo. I think the contrast between the gold and the turquoise is super pretty and definitely fun for summer. I think I’d like to experiment with a few other color combinations as well, though, because you could go in so many different directions with this style. A pale pink base color with silver glitter or a hot pink base with gold would be so gorgeous. You could even invert the colors and try silver polish as your base and light pink glitter on top!
I’ve never done a manicure like this before but now I am just dying to try it out!
Have you guys experimented with glitter and your nails? What color combo would you like to try? Tell me in the comments and let me know if you try it out!

Hi beauties! Happy Monday! This week’s Mani Monday post is all about OPI’s upcoming ballet-inspired spring collection.
The New York City Ballet served as OPI’s muse for this collection and the result is an absolutely lovely line of polishes that I personally cannot wait to scoop up. In this interview, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Frischmann explains that the “dancers, choreography, and costumes provided a wealth of inspiration for a range of soft, feminine hues.” Take a look:

I just love this set of colors and think it’s exactly what a ballet-inspired collection SHOULD look like. Each of these pinky and neutral shades is timeless and would be perfect for work, play or as an everyday polish. The set is also in line with the pastel trend for spring/summer, so bravo OPI!
What do you think about this collection? Do you think they nailed the ballet concept? Tell me what you think below!

For Valentine’s Day, I like to do either a French or light pink manicure. I personally don’t like to go dark or red on this holiday because even though it’s not here yet, spring starts to feel a little closer on Valentine’s Day, don’t you think? It’s around this holiday that I usually start to transition out of my super wintry mode into more of a springtime look.
In terms of the specific colors that I like, OPI Sweetheart is of course my all time favorite. I also really like Essie Ballet Slipper.
What’s your favorite shade of pink polish?
