Hi lovelies! I hope you all are having a nice Monday. Smile

Last Sunday, I challenged you all to make one area of your house, no matter how big or small, really bright and cheerful. I showed you my rainbow bookshelf as an example and asked you to share photos of your own colorful corners in the comments. And wow, let me just say, I LOVED seeing how many of you gave this a try. Smile Doesn’t it make such a difference?!

Today, as promised, I’m sharing some of the colorful corners that you submitted in a Member Spotlight post. I hope these are as inspirational to you as they are to me! Enjoy!

  1. Anna made a beautiful shelf dedicated to all of the things that she loves. She says that the candle, perfume, and picture frame make her happy every time she looks at it! I definitely agree with her that this is a really beautiful space.

  2. Emily Bean loves her perfume collection, so she chose to pretty it up by decorating a basket to hold them all and setting it out on display. Perfumes are one of the best things to decorate with since they are so beautiful, so I love that she chose this as her colorful corner of the week.

  3. Eve S changed up how she organizes her books by arranging them by color and adding in some unexpected décor items. I love this! I do this with my own bookshelves as well.

What organizational projects have you been working on lately?

I need to do this, sometimes my home feels a bit dreary.

I have bean cleaning out all of my clothes that don't fit in my closet and plan on selling them at a garage sale. Now that my closet I all cleared I can organize it with new clothes.

Wow I was featured!  Thank you, Elle!  It made my day!  And the other girls' pictures are lovely.  :)

We had so much fun looking through all of your blogs/websites posted in response to our blog, Calling All Bloggers: Share Your Blogs Here! In that post we promised you guys that we would feature 5 of our favorites in a Member Spotlight post, but we couldn’t pick just 5!! They were all so good and it was impossible to select ONLY 5. So instead we decided to feature 5 now and then we’ll feature more down the road!

Here are the blogs that we’re featuring this round:

2. Ember Drake features so many pretty dresses on her blog, Ember’s Corner. Here’s one from her recent Fairytale Friday post:

I found some inspiring manicures that were uploaded here on ElleandBlair.com and I just have to show you guys! I love all of them because they showcase fun and easy ways to mix up your nail routine. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Annette Desouza’s Newspaper Nails
Extra, Extra! Read all about it: Newspaper nails are sweeping the nation! I’ve always wanted to try this trending manicure because it looks super cute (way to go Annette) and the process looks harder than it actually is! All you do is apply a base coat (usually white or beige), let it dry, then cut small strips of newspaper that are large enough to cover each nail (it doesn’t have to be exact). Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol into a dish and dip your nail in it for 10-15 seconds. Then quickly press the small strip of newspaper firmly on your nail, and finish off with a topcoat! Use this process for each nail and then voila—your nails will be looking as adorable as Annette’s!

L8dyBella’s Panda Mani
OMG, take a look at these panda nails from L8dyBella and tell me you don’t just absolutely LOVE them… SO precious, right? I mean, who wouldn’t want mini pandas painted on their nails?! LOL. If you have a steady hand and some polish pens, I say give it try! Add a little sparkle to your panda nails by using mini rhinestones for the eyes.

Mani Monday: Member Spotlight!

Krishna Patel’s Flower Power Mani
How cute are her nails? I love how she chose to accentuate only part of the flower, and with such detail! The idea is great: Flowers always brighten my day, especially when they’re PINK. Again, use polish pens to achieve this look and let me know how it goes.

Lauren Shepherd’s Intergallatic Nails
I LOVE Lauren Shepherd’s outerspace inspired nails. She used two NYC polish colors, Ink Stain blue for the basecoat and the Lights-Camera-Glitter polish for the topcoat to make it looks like a starry night. And when you get clusters of glitter on your nails, don’t worry about spreading them out—they can be “planets!”

Hi guys! It took me quite a while to put this post together, but I finally found all the photos of your hidden pets! Like Pinecone, they really do hide in the most precarious, yet hilarious, places. Remember when I found Pinecone hiding in a box? Haha, what a silly kitty. Anyway, below are my favorite animal-in-hiding pictures from your fellow ElleandBlair.com members that really made me giggle Smile

Linsay O’s cat looks conveniently comfortable…

I don’t think lishthefish’s cute cat can hide properly in that vase. It’s a little snug, don’t ya think?

Steph P’s four pound pup, Cooper, hogs up her queen size bed!

Julia Bella had some trouble finding her cat...until she spotted her long tail.

These felines and pooches sure have found the most interesting places to hide. I love animals, they really do add such wonderful humor and love to our lives.

Which one is your favorite?

Don’t forget to upload your pet photos to your ElleandBlair.com profile page, especially during this holiday season since I’m sure there will be lots of photo ops considering the amount of boxes, wrapping paper and bows that come out around this time.

I think it’s safe to say we have some of the most creative members here on ElleandBlair.com—especially when it comes to nail polish! When I started seeing people tweeting photos of their manicures inspired by our Elle & Blair for Cellairis line of cell phone cases, I was seriously so excited. Hi beauties! I promised you guys I would spotlight one of your videos that you posted to your ElleandBlair.com profile page in response to my video Jewelry Collection + Armoire Tour, so here it is…

Thanks to ElleandBlair.com member Nataly Martinez for sharing your How To Organize Your Jewelry Video! I’ve posted her video below so all of you guys can see it:

Also, I saw some really great tips in the comments to my video post so I decided to spotlight one of your suggestions… This jewelry organization tip is from ElleandBlair.com member Victoria Nutty:

A good tip to keep your bangles and bracelet sets organized is to go to a craft store and get circular clips to clip them together (the ones that look like the rings of a binder). I keep all my bracelets on a slumped mosaic glass plate I made and clipping all my sets together makes it so much easier to just grab on and go in the morning, instead of picking through to find every bracelet. Another idea is to take a normal cork bored and cover it with pretty fabric using pins or a staple gun, then put either cup hooks or push pins on it to hold your necklaces, earrings, small bracelets, and rings.

Thanks to all those who shared! And thanks for all the great tips too!

Member Spotlight: Glitter It Up!

Hey beauties! A few weeks ago we received a really kind message from ElleandBlair.com member Jenson and I really wanted to share with you guys.

Here’s Jenson’s message:

Hello Elle and Blair! I posted a question about my friend starting school earlier today in the forum, and I got 1 response. Just 1. And I was absolutely thrilled! I was so happy that there was one girl out there who cared enough to answer my question. She gave the advice I needed, and that was all that mattered. The point is, I wanted you guys to know that these girls change a person's day, that one girl who is willing to give advice makes all the difference. And that sensation would not have been possible without this site. Thank you so much for that opportunity! Even if it was just one girl who responded, it makes an impact. You two rock! Keep on glittering it up! – Jenson

We were so happy when we got this message because we really want you guys to take advantage of the Forum here on the website and share all of your tips, tricks, ideas, and advice with your fellow members. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help in the Forum too! It’s a place for you to ask questions and get answers. So, if you see a thread about something that you might be able to give some good advice on, don’t be shy—go on in there and leave a reply (haha that totally rhymed). It’s important to reach out (even if it’s a little scary) because your participation is appreciated and so helpful to other girls and no one is going to take that for granted. Smile

If you haven’t already, take a look at the Active Discussions in the Forum and get involved. Or, why not start your own thread and see what your fellow ElleandBlair.com members have to say!

Thank you guys so much for making ElleandBlair.com such an awesome place to hang out online. And a special thank you to Jenson for your kind words! Smile

In the words of Jenson, “Keep on glittering it up!” and have fun in the Forum!

P.S The picture is from here.

I’m so SO excited to share this with you… One of our fellow ElleandBlair.com members, Taylor Ridge, will be participating in the Miss California Teen USA 2012 beauty pageant held in January 2012! Taylor has been a longtime Elle & Blair fan and I was thrilled when she messaged us about her exciting opportunity! Sparkle & Shine: Dream Again With Me

Taylor told me that aside from the beauty aspect of the pageant (which she says, “Is amazing! Makeup and fashion [are] two of my favorite things!” Ahh a girl after my own heart!), a major part of her participation is charity work and giving back to the community. Don’t you just love her already?!

Taylor is supporting two campaigns that work together to raise awareness for human trafficking and child exploitation (think child sex slavery, forced labor, deadly working conditions etc.) called the Dream Again Campaign and Love 146. When she told me about her causes I was IN. You guys know how I feel about these things (just read my blog, Get Real: My Case Against Fakes) so I wanted to tell you about what our fellow glambitious member is doing so we can support her causes and her pursuit for the Miss California Teen USA 2012 crown.

Taylor said she stumbled upon the Dream Again Campaign on Twitter. She said, “the moment I [learned about] it, I knew I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing... I decided to use this as my cause to support in the pageant since it’s such a powerful thing.” The Dream Again Campaign and Love 146 organizations are all about showing kids who have been living in nightmares that it’s possible to dream again. (I have goose bumps… this is so sad and so heart warming at the same time.) The Dream Again motto is “Awareness = Action, Action = Restoration.” The only way to stop these horrible things is by bringing awareness to it and spreading the word across the world.

Sparkle & Shine: Dream Again With MeHelping is easy! You can help just by taking a look at the Dream Again and Love 146 websites! Also, you can wear your support for all to see with the Dream Again pendant necklaces (pictured above) they are selling in support of Love 146. All of the proceeds go to the survivors and safe-houses for the children. Click here to check them out.

Here’s a little video Taylor made explaining everything:

Taylor loves ElleandBlair.com and told me that she loves our “sweet, supportive and inspiring” community. She’s talking about YOU guys! Let’s show her how awesome we are by supporting her! I really believe that together we can make a difference. Think about it, we have over 30,000 registered ElleandBlair.com members here (and lots more people who just stop by too). If we ALL tell just 2 people about these causes, think about the difference we can make—that’s like telling over 90,000 people worldwide! Wow. That’s pretty crazy, right? ElleandBlair.com is all about being glambitious and that’s exactly what Taylor is doing...

So dream big, Dream Again, and be glambitious by joining me in supporting Taylor and her causes!

To show support your fellow ElleandBlair.com member, Taylor Ridge, please “Like” her fan page on Facebook and spread the word about her causes!

P.S. Taylor needs to reach 10,000 Facebook fans by pageant time—so please make sure you “Like” her fan page on Facebook today! Also, you can follow her on Twitter @taylormridge.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to do a little spotlight post today about one of the really cool threads I found in the Forum started by ElleandBlair.com member, Trista. Trista created a health group where you can participate in daily or weekly check-ins to talk about all things health and fitness. Trista encourages everyone to “respond with accomplishments you’ve achieved, healthy snacks you’ve eaten, goals etc.” I think this is a fantastic idea and I love this thread since it’s a great support system for those looking to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Make sure you check out Trista’s health group check ins (they are always listed with “HEALTH” and the date in the Forum)! Click here to check out her second online meet up! And make sure to tell me what you think about this thread in the comments below!

And don’t forget to start your own thread or join in the Active Discussions in the Forum.

What's your favorite thread in the Forum? Share the links below!

P.S. The photo is from here.
