Looking Back: My First Makeup Purchase

Hi beauties! Today I thought I’d share the story about my very first trip to the makeup counter since it was clearly a very important day in my life Smile

As far back as my memory goes, I always remember having basic pieces of accumulated makeup lying around. When I was little I would take a blush that my mom was about to throw away and I would claim it as my own. Even though I had a nice little stash of play makeup, I didn’t really have anything that was bought for especially me. Finally, when I was in 6th grade (I think I was 11 years old at the time) my mom took me makeup shopping! Clinique was having free makeovers that day and at the time you usually had to pay for them (unlike now), but they had this one day where you could get a makeover for free. Mom took me to do the makeover and I liked it so much that she let me pick out five things! I was over the moon with happiness! I remember I got a lip gloss, a blush, an eyeshadow, a mascara and I think the last thing was a tube of lipstick. When we left the department store, I remember I felt so special! It was my first big makeup shopping experience I will never ever forget it. Plus I think it was a big day for me since I kinda think this is what started my makeup obsession because from that moment on I was in love with all things beauty!

After my Clinique trip I started to wear makeup on a regular basis and I’d always wear one eyeshadow—just one—with lip gloss, blush and mascara. I’m pretty sure this was my “look” for a long time. When I finally got into foundation it was sort of bad though because once I started wearing it, I couldn’t stop wearing it! And I’m still wearing it, every day, to this day. I seriously feel naked without! Personally, I think you should put off foundation as long as you can because as soon as you start wearing it, it’s hard to go back.

I was around 11 or so and my first makeup product was a lip gloss from Bonne Bell. It was scented like raspberries, it tasted soooo good and i loved it. That began my love for fruit scented lip gloss lol

I'm not sure if I was given makeup prior to my first makeup counter trip, but I remember that the first time my mom took me to a department store to buy makeup I was ecstatic.  Probably because I didn't know I was going to get any!  It was a spontaneous purchase =) We went to a Chanel counter and my mom bought me a translucent powder, mascara, mascara primer, and an eyeshadow quad.  It was amazing!  In hindsight, it was really expensive, and I don't think I will be making a splurge like that anytime soon.

My first makeup purchase was a goody bag that was on sale for 50p

Seriously, it had loads of junky makeup in all the horrible colours but Iloved it. I used nearly everything up!!!!!

I got my first real expensive makeup from Clinique too!! I have their mascara and eyeshadows!!  I love them:)

My first makeup purchase was for seventh grade! My mom bought my Makeup Forever Aqua eyes eyeliner and Bad Gal Lash by Benefit it was exciting :] And now I have a bigger makeup collection.

MY first make up purchase was in FOURTH (4) grade!

I had auditioned for an extra-curricular club / group. It is called, Action Song here in Malaysia. Basically, its like a dancing and singing club! Like, a year-round play. When there were visitors to the school, we were asked to do our dance routine. We used High School Musical songs at the time! We had to wear make up for rehearsels, and there was that ONE Aunt / Helper there all the time. She had TONS of cosmetics, and I dont know how but ..... I fell in love!

I achieved FIRST (1) place in my exams, and my parents presented me with my FIRST make up kit. It didnt consist of mascara or eye liner because I was only 9 ..... But it included a small pallete of eye shadow, lip lacquer, and some blush and powder, from Chameleon! Anyways, great post .....

I know what you mean about the foundation addiction! For the longest time my mom wouldn't let me wear it but when i finally decided to wear it, it seemed like my face broke out alot more. Since then ive stuck to my handy dandy tinted moisturizer :)
